Staying Fit Isn’t So Scary After All

We’ve all heard it before, “stay fit and have fun”, but for many, it isn’t as easy as it sounds. It can be intimidating going to that gym downtown with all those avid, god-like gym-goers, making you lose your motivation. It’s exhausting doing something you don’t want to do for the results you desire, but guess what, you don’t have to! Sure, Carl down the road goes running every morning at the crack of dawn, and Sophie goes to a fitness boot camp a few times a week, but does that mean you have to follow what Carl and Sophie do? We all know the answer is no, but why do we still feel like we have to copy people? Do we feel like maybe their interests will somehow make us happy, too? Of course, you can give it a try and maybe you’ll end up enjoying it, but ultimately, you have to find out for yourself. The problem is we don’t trust ourselves enough to figure out what makes us happy to stay fit and keep at it. Carl loves to run, and he feels like a free spirit when he’s out there every morning. Sophie loves to push herself to the limit at her fitness boot camp and feels accomplished the next day when her body aches for a bit. This is what makes them happy to stay fit, but it doesn't necessarily mean it’s for you. Not everybody likes to go to the gym, or to go running, or to go to a fitness boot camp. Fortunately, they’re not the only options out there! You might like to do a little home workout right when you wake up, or join a yoga class, or even take long walks around your neighborhood in the evenings instead of binge-watching your favorite show. Whatever is it, though, make sure you’re happy doing it, because otherwise, you won't stick to it and that's the point.

At our website, www.clubsfit.com, find books about people who’ve found ways to stay fit and have fun, such as Maria Kang’s No More Excuses Diet, where she gives sound advice to help you avoid excuses and get the body you’ve always wanted. Who knows, maybe while reading, it’ll inspire you to figure out what’ll make you happy to stay fit!
